Two Types of PDF Forms — and How to Handle Each
Before filling a PDF on your phone, it helps to understand what kind of form you're dealing with. This determines which method works best:
- Interactive PDF forms — These have clickable fields (text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns, radio buttons) built into the PDF. When you tap a field, a text cursor appears. These are the easiest to fill.
- Flat (non-interactive) PDFs — These look like forms but have no clickable fields — they're basically images or fixed layouts. You need to overlay text manually on top of them.

Open the PDF on your phone. If you can tap a field and a cursor or keyboard appears, it's interactive. If tapping does nothing, it's a flat form — but both are fillable using different tools.
How to Fill an Interactive PDF Form on iPhone or Android
- Open rifix.xyz/form in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android).
- Tap Choose File and select your PDF form.
- The form loads with all interactive fields highlighted. Tap any field to start typing.
- For checkboxes — tap to toggle them on or off.
- For dropdowns — tap to open the option list and select your choice.
- For signature fields — tap the field, draw your signature in the popup, confirm.
- Tap Download when done. The completed form saves to your Downloads folder.
How to Fill a Flat (Non-Interactive) PDF Form on Your Phone
- Open rifix.xyz/edit in your mobile browser.
- Upload the flat PDF form.
- Select the Text tool from the toolbar.
- Tap where a field should be on the page — a text box appears.
- Type your answer. Adjust font size so it fits within the printed lines.
- Repeat for each field you need to fill.
- Download the completed form.
This method works for any printed form that someone has scanned or exported as a PDF — tax forms, visa applications, insurance claims, and so on.
Adding a Signature on a Mobile Form
After filling your form, you often need to sign it. In the Form Fill tool, signature fields let you draw directly with your finger. Can I save my progress and come back later? Not directly — the tool processes in the browser session. If you have a long form, complete it in one sitting or download a partial version to continue later.

Opening the Form Tool on Mobile
On Android, open Chrome and go to rifix.xyz/form. On iPhone or iPad, open Safari and go to rifix.xyz/form. Tap the upload area and select the PDF from your email attachment, Files app, or Downloads folder. The PDF loads in your browser without being uploaded to any external server — all processing happens on your phone. Typing Answers on Mobile
For interactive PDF forms — those with embedded form fields — tap each field and your phone keyboard appears automatically. Type your answer, tap the next field or use the Return key if supported. The form auto-scrolls to keep the active field in view. For non-interactive forms where you need to overlay text, tap the Add Text tool, then tap on the PDF in the field area. A text entry box appears — type your answer. Pinch to zoom in before tapping if the fields are small and closely spaced on the page. Move the text box by dragging, and resize by dragging the corner handle. Accuracy is easier on larger phones or tablets — on a small phone, zoom in significantly before placing text boxes.
Signing on Mobile
Signing on a phone touchscreen is practical once you know the technique. Open the Sign tool, select Draw, and use your fingertip (not the pad of your finger — the tip gives more precision). Sign slowly — the canvas captures every movement. Landscape orientation gives you more horizontal space, which helps for wider signatures. If the result looks wrong, tap Clear and try again — there is no limit on attempts. After placing the signature, pinch to zoom the PDF to check it sits correctly in the signature field before exporting. On iPad with Apple Pencil, the signature experience is noticeably better — indistinguishable from pen on paper for most signatures.
Handling Multi-Page Forms on Mobile
Long forms with many pages — insurance claims, application forms, tax documents — require working through each page systematically on a small screen. Use the page navigation buttons to move between pages. Complete fields on each page before moving to the next. If you lose your place in the form, the edit layers list (accessible from the sidebar) shows all text boxes you have added, which helps you track what has been completed. For very long forms, it may be more efficient to complete the text fields on mobile and then handle the signature on desktop where precision is easier.
Downloading and Sending the Completed Form from Mobile
After completing all fields, tap Export PDF. On Android, the file downloads to your Downloads folder — access it from the Files app or Chrome Downloads. On iOS, the file downloads to your Files app Downloads folder. To email the form, open your email app, compose a reply or new message to the form sender, and attach the PDF from Downloads. To send via WhatsApp, open the conversation, tap the attachment icon, select Document, and find the completed form. To upload to a portal, open the portal in a browser tab, find the upload section, and select the file from Downloads. The entire fill-sign-return workflow takes 3–8 minutes on mobile for most standard forms.
When Mobile Form Filling Has Limitations
Some form types are genuinely harder on mobile: forms with many small checkbox fields close together (finger precision is limited); forms requiring complex table filling with many cells; forms where you need to copy information from another document open on the same screen (split-screen helps on larger phones and tablets); and forms requiring digital certificates for regulated signatures. For these cases, either use a tablet for the larger screen, or wait until you have desktop access. For the majority of standard forms — name, address, date, signature — mobile filling is fully practical and fast enough for same-day turnaround.

The form tool saves your progress automatically as you work. If you close the tab and reopen the tool, you should see a session restore prompt offering to reload your previous work. For critical forms, export a copy once you have completed most of the fields even if you plan to return — this gives you a backup in case the session expires.
Can I add an image (like a stamp or logo) to a PDF form on my phone?
Yes. In the form tool, switch to the signature tab and use the Upload option to load any image from your phone — this includes stamps, logos, and scanned images — and place it on the PDF page. This works identically on mobile and desktop.
Can I fill a multi-page form across multiple sessions on mobile?
Yes. Complete as much as you can, export the partially filled PDF, and save it. Next time, re-upload that partially filled PDF and continue adding text boxes where you left off. Because each filled field is baked into the exported PDF as content, your previous entries are preserved when you re-upload.
Is my form data private when filling on a phone browser?
