Rotate PDF Pages Free

Rotate one page, a range of pages, or the entire document by 90°, 180°, or 270°. Changes are permanent in the output — no viewer settings needed.

PDF rotation corrects pages that were scanned or saved in the wrong orientation. Unlike viewer-only rotation (which just changes how your app displays the page), this tool bakes the rotation into the PDF itself so the document opens correctly in every viewer, on every device, without the reader needing to adjust any settings.

Rotation Options

90° clockwise (↻). Rotates pages a quarter turn to the right. Use this when a portrait-scanned page appears lying on its left side.

90° counter-clockwise (↺). Rotates pages a quarter turn to the left. Use this when a portrait page appears lying on its right side.

180° (↕). Flips pages upside down. Use this for pages that are completely inverted — scanned face-down or saved upside-up.

Individual page rotation. Click the rotation buttons directly on a page thumbnail to rotate that single page. This is useful for documents with a mix of portrait and landscape pages — a report where a wide data table needs to be landscape while the rest of the pages are portrait.

Why Pages End Up the Wrong Orientation

Scanner feeding direction. Flatbed and sheet-feed scanners can produce sideways pages if the original was placed or fed in the wrong orientation. Documents with mixed-orientation pages are especially common from automatic document feeders.

Phone camera scanning. Scanning apps on phones sometimes lock orientation based on the phone position at the moment of capture rather than the actual document orientation.

PDF export settings. Some applications export landscape-mode slides or spreadsheets as portrait PDFs with rotated content rather than genuinely landscape-oriented pages.

Viewer-only rotation not saved. If someone rotated a page in their PDF viewer but saved without "saving the rotation", the file remains in the original orientation for everyone else who opens it.

More Questions

Does rotating affect text searchability?

No. Rotation is applied at the PDF page level without re-rendering the content. Text layers, hyperlinks, and form fields all remain intact after rotation.

Can I rotate only odd or even pages?

Yes. Use the page range input to specify pages manually — for example, enter "1,3,5,7" to rotate only odd pages. You can rotate each set of pages separately and download the result.

Is the file uploaded to a server?

No. Rotation is processed entirely in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device at any point.

Will the rotation be visible in all PDF viewers?

Yes. The rotation is written into the PDF page definition, not stored as a display preference. The document will appear correctly rotated in every PDF viewer — Adobe Reader, browser viewers, mobile apps, and print dialogs — without any manual adjustment needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rotate just one page in a multi-page PDF?

Yes. Navigate to the specific page and rotate only that page. Other pages remain at their original orientation.

Will rotating a PDF reduce quality?

No. Rotation is a metadata change in the PDF structure. The page content is not re-rendered or re-encoded, so there is no quality loss.

Can I rotate pages in a scanned PDF?

Yes. Rotation works on all PDF types including scanned documents.

Can I rotate 90, 180 or 270 degrees?

Yes. You can rotate clockwise or anticlockwise in 90-degree increments to any orientation.
